Laser Tag Sound Track ~ Coming February 24th

LASERTAGgraphic1small

Three things that definitely go together, even if you probably never would've connected the dots: Experimental Soundtracks, Performance and Laser Tag. On Tuesday, Feb 24 at 6:30pm, Kchung Radio DJ Anna Ialeggio will host Laser Tag Sound Track, a concert featuring curated experimental soundtracks inside a functioning laser tag facility . The entire event will be broadcast live as an unfolding radio narrative on kchungradio.org.

Laser Tag Sound Track explores the connections between games, wars, reality journalism and popular entertainment. From Call of Duty to American Sniper to children's birthday parties, American life and entertainment are infused with war simulations and expressions of the military-industrial complex. Often these expressions are devoid of the trauma of war, and are presented as mere entertainment. Exploring this space through experimental music and performance inside an actual laser tag facility should be really bizarre and fascinating.

From the official press release:

The audience will explore these compositions as active participants in six 15-20 minutes games. Audience members will also be able to act within each game as "embedded" scenario journalists. They will be loaned equipment for recording a live audio track: a mix of soundtrack, subjective narrative and field recordings, which will be aired live on Kchung Radio's mobile low-powered FM radio broadcasting unit. Each game will be prefaced by a short theatrical performance by six Los Angeles performance artists. Refreshments will be served. Laser Tag Sound Track will be held at the Ultrazone laser tag facility in Alhambra, CA. It will be conducted with the support of KCHUNG Radio, an independent artist-run radio station in Los Angeles with a focus on experimental media projects.

The organizer, Anna Ialeggio, is a Los Angeles artist working in speculative media, such as sculpture and radio. She has been a KCHUNG DJ since 2013.

Fundraising for Laser Tag Sound Track is currently underway via a Kickstarter campaign. Participating artists will be announced Feb 7. Advance tickets are available through Kickstarter, but otherwise will be available at a sliding scale lasertagsoundtrack.com beginning Feb 1. The event will be held at 6:30pm on February 24, 2015 at Ultrazone (231 East Main Street, Alhambra, CA 91801).
