[dropcap size=big]C[/dropcap]hances are if you aren’t already a fan, you’ve heard Steve Lacy’s music somewhere. “The Internet” guitarist is an amazing vocalist. Seriously check out Steve Lacy’s demo. It’s great and I just found out that he recorded most of it on an iPhone. Anyway, Steve Lacy is releasing a long awaited first album, Apollo XXI. The release celebration will be held at the Compton airport this Friday. More info here.

Taco Trucks at Every Mosque at ISOC-Garden Grove

What’s different this time around is that they will be serving bowls of pho alongside their well-known halal tacos. There will also be vegan pho. Viva La Mujer

[dropcap size=big]V[/dropcap]iva La Mujer is Las Fotos Project’s annual festival and fundraiser featuring all-women art, music, and more. There will be more than 100 vendors, live performances, food, drinks, dancing and workshops. I’m excited for the Esta Soy Yo: Creators Workshop, which teaches participants how to mix photographs with other media like paint. This year’s theme is Migrant Mamas, an ode to all mothers that crossed borders. The proceeds go to the Las Fotos Project, a program that empowers young girls with photography. Get more details here.

L.A. Zine Fest

[dropcap size=big]L[/dropcap]ove making zines or love to look at them? The L.A. Zine Fest is happening this Sunday! It will be a gathering of 200 zinesters sharing their work, offering free workshops and panels. The Zine Fest will be held at Helms Bakery in Culver City. The volunteer-led festival has been around since 2012 and is a project of Fulcrum Arts’ Emerge fiscal sponsorship program. There will also be an L.A. Burger Day at Smorgasborg LA

[dropcap size=big]T[/dropcap]his Memorial Day weekend, Smorg is bringing back Burger Day, a celebration of all things grilled and served between two buns. There will be pop-up favorites like Love Hour, Gold Burger LA, and The Heyday. Also the Travel Channel’s Burger Land host George Motz will be there serving his Oklahoma Fried Onion Burger, which is a smashed patty with thin sliced sweet onion. Kickback Brunch at Xela’s

Sand One Dolls Night Market

Catch the popular artist at her own gallery in South Gate this Saturday for the Dolls Night Market, an opportunity for folks to shop, mingle, drink, talk, and network.
