The Room SM Sign

1325 Santa Monica Blvd. @ 14th St. ~ Santa Monica

The Room SM is hard-to-find, a perfect accompaniment to the speakeasy chills that it gives you upon entering this underground, beat-heavy lounge in the parking lot of a sports bar-cum live music stage. SM could stand for the abundance of black leather and red velvet that give it its Sinatra supper-club meets vampire bordello-vibe, rather than its location.

Room SM Bar

Dark, red-lit and small, the mellow club gets really slammed starting on Thursdays, where the short-skirted meet the black t-shirted to bust moves to hip-hop, R&B, and latin-infused variants. Wednesday allows for mellow take-overs under salsa-inflected trance. TACO's favorite aspect is the canopied corner booths, which allow for some Dean Martin and Jayne Mansfield action with fresh meat abducted straight off the UCLA campus.

Open Wednesday to Saturday 9-2AM.
