Cho mi bredren! What a dope weekend Paw is about to have, crazy as he is for graffiti and Rastafar-Irations. There have rarely been more opportunities to see respected and famous painters get up live with spray cans, as Saturday sees a host of gatherings for graf artists and fans to unite. The whole town is psyched for Galo 'Make' Canote's massive Karan Koron event at Hollywood's Meltdown Comics tonight which features over 80 artists doing their thing to traditional Japanese shoes, along with some live paint demos y mas. The intricate, colorful bead and yarn art of the Huichol, native survivors in modern-day Nayarit and Jalisco, will surely stun at El Pueblo. The Honorable Robert Nesta Marley might not be playing shows in his current spiritual manifestation, but his rock solid band The (Wailing) Wailers, lead by the indomitable bassist Aston 'Familyman' Barrett is a must-see, Familyman having created so many of the legendary band's rhythms with his tragically deceased 'mano Carlton. Meanwhile Eek-A-Mouse will have a word or two to say 'pon ganja smuggling with plenty of 'bing-bong-biddy-bing-bong-get 'emindehs' to throw into the mix. Take Pops, or the closest approximation in your life, out for some brews on Sunday at Pasadena's Ice House and remember the Heineken girls truely like you for who you are (not cuz they are paid to smile). Please do your best to make it to the Friends of Vinay event at the awesome pirate-themed Redwood Bar, a life depends on it. Yes-sire!
