Recap: Atomik x Cab One ~ GCS Santa Ana

Cab One from Los Angeles and Atomiko in from Miami collaborated this past weekend for an opening at GCS Santa Ana in Orange County. To mark this opening, a print release collaboration was produced, showing Atomik’s iconic orange character with can in hand painting a CAB throw up. The white ink on black paper gives it a distinct look, and both artists added hand embellishments to each print.

While in town the Miami native released a tee shirt with Smog City Clothing, painted in Venice Beach, and at The Container Yard. He also made a stop to Gardena and paid a visit to Slick's recently opened Big Dick’s Hardware. Just another busy week for an traveling artist making his mark in the city of angels. Check out our interview with Atomiko, to date one of the only ones he's given.

Can Anti-Surveillance Makeup Protect Protesters from Facial Recognition Software?

Known as Computer Vision Dazzle, or CV Dazzle, this abstract style of makeup was created by artist and researcher Adam Harvey for his 2010 master's thesis at NYU. While traditional camo is designed as a disruptive pattern meant to hide the wearer from the human eye, CV Dazzle was created to break machine vision systems.  The name comes from “Dazzle,” a type of camouflage on battleships in WWI and WWII that used complex patterns of contrasting geometric shapes to make it difficult for enemies to determine their speed and distance.
