Interview with Chippy Nonstop

ChippyNonstop2_photobyStacyLeigh

Chippy Nonstop, now based in L.A., is an ever-evolving artist who raps, sings, twerks, and also has one of the more entertaining twitter feeds out there. Erwin Recinos did this Q&A with Chippy, whose latest tune, Alone, came out yesterday and is embedded below.

How's the L.A. music scene treating you?
Its cool, I already knew a lot of people here, so it wasn't too bad making the transition.

What have you found interesting about the music scene in this city?
Honestly, it's the same for me wherever I go have the same network everywhere, so everywhere I live I see the exact same people all the time.

One of your fans on Twitter said you need your own reality TV show. Would you ever do it? Why or why not?
I would 100% do a reality show. I already post my whole life on the internet, so it's whatever. I don't really need privacy. Plus I wish all the crazy shit me and my friends do was on TV, because we are hilarious and tight. LOL.

Traveling seems to be in your blood from a young age. What has traveling taught you?
I wasn't really thinking about it when I was a child, obviously, but it made me a well rounded person. I easily adapt to uncomfortable situations and know how to deal with a lot of different types of people.

What's the weirdest photo shoot you have done?
Doing one right now with a naked girl and Mad dog 20/20.

There's a great photo of you eating at In-N-Out Burger. Do you remember what you had?
LOL. It was actually just a shoot that I did with my friend Jasmine. I think I had a grilled cheese and fries.

We met at Smog Cutter in East Hollywood in October. I think you were singing Everybody (Backstreet’s Back). Is that your go to song during karaoke?
LOL. Not really. I don't really go to karaoke, but I love singing Ke$HA at karaoke mostly or Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

Katy Perry? What song?
Walking On Air and The One That Got Away.

What is it about karaoke that brings the best and worst out of people?
I like people just going ham at karaoke, I hate when people are hella serious like belting out the lyrics. I just like when people are drunk and turning up and dancing.

In five years do you see yourself as a musician, designer, fashionista or twerk instructor?
A Mogul.

When you become a mogul will you be using Minions?
LOL! Nah, I'm just hook all my homies up with jobs and make them all millionaires too. There's enough money in the world.

What projects/performances should our LA TACO readers be looking out for from you?
I'm putting out random things here and there till my album comes out. Putting out a video for my song called #BANGBANG soon also on Karmaloop TV.
