Drew Ganyer made this lovely short film about the neon rooftops of Los Angeles. Here's his description:

Inspired by the beauty of historic neon signs scattered on the rooftops of LA, this video provides a new and unique way to see them in all their glory. Featured are historic spots such as the Hotel Normandie, El Royale, and Royale Wilshire, all set against the beautiful backdrop of LA's skyline.

This is a beautiful idea not only to show you neon art, but to consider L.A.'s history. One example, the Asbury building seen in the screenshot above, was originally luxury residences with commanding views of Westlake (now MacArthur) Park, and were regarded as ultra-exclusive when the building opened in 1925. The neighborhood has been changing rapidly since the end of World War II, but the neon remains.

Enjoy this film, and thanks to the filmmaker for creating it!
