Preview: Vessels and Busts ~ Opens Nov 7th at Superchief Gallery

Superchief Gallery has barely been in L.A. for a year, but they've already done some of our favorite art events of recent memory. They seem to especially excel at group shows-- the latest is focused on contemporary interpretations of the classical iconography of VESSELS/vases and classical figurative BUSTS/sculptures.

This exhibition brings together 13 diverse artists from Canada, Australia and the United States and asks them to direct their individual focus/style onto this unifying theme. "Vessels and Busts" will highlight how each artists deals with the historical weight of this subject matter in their own practices, and will explore what these iconic references invoke when integrated into the practices of todays young artists.  More info after the preview images below...

Ragusano is disappointed that the L.A. Times didn’t publicly disclose that there was an outbreak at their event. “Obviously they’re not going to print it in their paper,” Ragusano said. “But they‘re a newspaper and newspapers are supposed to share the news. This is how people usually find out about something like this,” she added. “It's ironic because it happened to them.”
