Villaraigosa Bestows WiFi
LAist clues us in to the big local internet story of the year so far- LA will have the country's largest free WiFi Network.

Mayor Shouted Down at Event
More Mayor news: InfoShop reports that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, appearing at the Los Angeles City Hall’s lawn for a Black History month awards ceremony was shouted down for the second time in recent weeks by protesters from the Los Angeles Community Action Network, LACAN. The shouting of “No justice no peace; stop racist police,” rang out and prevented Villaraigosa from being heard for a while, at which point he resumed speaking.

Claim: Inglewood Cops Get Free Sex at Massage Parlors
As part of a crackdown on human trafficking in Asian women sent to work at massage parlors in the Los Angeles area, Inglewood started busting up the happy ending palaces in that city. The FBI claims that instead of shutting them down, at least 6 cops traded silence for sexual favors. The Feds say they've got detailed ledgers from the houses' madams to prove it.

Self-Defense Against ICE: Community Groups In L.A. Are Uniting to Protect Themselves

More than 50 organizations have joined the call to join this coalition, making it one of Southern California's largest immigrant rights coalitions. The group aims to extend from the San Fernando Valley to the U.S./Mexico border. The coalition is organizing training sessions to prepare its members for community tactics to defend their neighbors from ICE raids and deportations. Their first mass protest is taking place on Monday.
