Idiocracy Now In Theatres

4:05 PM PDT on September 1, 2006

Blogging.la lets us know that Idiocracy, the "cult comedy reduced to mythic status" because of long, pointless delays in its release, is actually out right now in Los Angeles. Jay Bushman writes:

The suits at Fox have decided to use a cutting-edge release strategy that involve NO ADVERTISING. Seriously. It's in limited release in a few cities, including L.A.

The movie's by Mike Judge, who had a similarly bad marketing experience with a little film you may have heard of called Office Space. This film has been so buried that you can't look it up on Moviefone, and even Rotten Tomatoes can only find two reviews. While we know very little about the movie, and can't vouch for its quality, it seems hard to believe that it would be any worse then the other movie options you have this weekend.
