[dropcap size=big]V[/dropcap]alentine’s Day is just a shadow of February, a bit silly in that it occupies only one day and celebrates only one type of love (romantic) while excluding all the others. This month the zodiac celebrates all the love—between friends, families, even strangers. The New Moon in Aquarius (February 23rd) emphasizes social welfare and supporting your fellow Angelenos. The same constellation hosts a triple alignment (Sun-Mercury-Earth) on the 25th, that inspires solutions to nagging problems. The month ends with a heart-melter. When the Moon aligns with Venus in sappy Pisces (February 27th), the stars make love to the universe. And yes, I stole that last bit from Shakira.

Aries (March 21 – April 20)
Feeling social, Aries? Mercury is exalted (astro-speak for fired up) in your Friendship House on the 10th. Give thanks for your besties and buy a round. Three nights of lunar lunacy commence when Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn take turns aligning with the Moon in your House of Religion (February 18th through 20th). You are at a significant juncture in your human trip. Take stock, be kind, and go forward with gratitude. The New Moon on the 23rd lands in your Friendship House (again). Can you see everybody, even strangers, as your brothers and sisters? Venus adds encouragement, bringing love and joining the Moon your Karma House (February 27th). Reap the love you sow.

Taurus (April 21 – May 21)

Your ideas will tend toward altruism. The workplace atmosphere will improve for you personally when you put others before yourself. On the 27th, the Moon and Venus align in Pisces, activating your Community House. Feel extra sensitive to other peoples’ vibrations. Help a touchy situation by radiating peace.

Tamal or Tamale? How to Correctly Pronounce the Singular Form of Tamales

The tamal vs. tamale debate has an almost emotional connection with people simply because it becomes a “how my family speaks the language vs. how it’s ‘supposed to be’ written” type of language conflict. In a culture like Mexico, where family always comes before anything, it makes sense that people will go with what feels familiar rather than what they are expected to say.
