Freeway Pirates Strike on the 605 Freeway ~ Whittier

6052

Three Freeway pirates have struck on the 605 freeway near Whittier, forcing a big rig to the side of the road. The driver was tied up and his truck, along with its shipping container cargo, were taken. The LA Times has more:

Authorities later discovered the driver's white big rig at 4139 San Gabriel River Parkway, a mile from the incident, but the cargo, which contained energy-efficient lamps, was missing, Perez said. Authorities were asking for the public's help to locate the cargo. The green shipping container had the words "China Shipping" written on both sides.

Energy efficient lamps? Seems like an odd target for pirates.
