[dropcap size=big]2016[/dropcap] is universally acknowledged as a shit year, but that doesn't mean we didn't find some interesting stories from the taco lifestyle. The promise of a better future hasn't materialized, but the city of Los Angeles remains endlessly fascinating.

Our mission is to bring you stories that could only come from L.A., and thanks to our many contributors, we were able to cover the city in a unique way that we hope you enjoyed. Once again, Desilu Munoz and Erwin Recinos are on another level as our all-star writers/photographers, but thanks to everyone who contributed to the site, you are greatly appreciated. A testament to the diversity of our crew is that the top 10 most popular posts this year represent seven different contributors.

This year we focused especially on photo essays and interviews, which gave us a chance to present original art from people like Sean Maung and Gregory Bojorquez, and speak with artists like Gajin Fujita, Chaz Bojorquez, and The Tracks. We also held our 8th annual Taco Madness; this year's winner was Revolutionario Taco-- a North African inspired taco shop near USC that also champions worker and immigrant rights.

Please enjoy this list of the 10 posts that got the most views in 2016, along with our complete list of all our favorites from various categories...

LAPD Officers Watched a Nearly $1 Million Metro Bus Get Lit On Fire. Why Didn’t They Do Something?

On social media, people were quick to criticize fans that participated in the celebrations. But few people questioned why the LAPD, a public agency with an annual budget of over $3 billion, stood around and waited until the bus was on fire before they did something. Or why the city wasn’t better prepared to handle public celebrations considering the same exact thing happened three years ago when the Dodgers won the World Series (again).
