Dan Fante

Dan Fante is the author of the new short story collection Short Dog (NYTimes review here), as well as plays, short stories and probably unpublished poetry. All of it is tough, real, raw, and utterly Los Angeles. Born and raised in the city, he's worked enough crummy jobs to write 20 more novels, and here's hoping he does.

So Dan, what's your favorite taco?

C'mon, Taco:

Everyone knows Tito's on Washington is the only spot for tacos.

No no no! Wait, there is another one. The best little Mexican joint just up Washington, across from Sony Studios. I believe it is called El Pueblo Viejo. Absolutely the best tacos in L.A. - best Mexican food too. Cheapest too. Spanglish spoken only. But don't tell anyone - it's that good.
