MichexGod, which long operated as a michelada-stocked San Fernando Valley food truck, now has its own brick-and-mortar restaurant in Sylmar. Cocteles, aguachiles, shrimp tacos, and tostadas mixtas are available to match with your mariscos-laden miches.

Unknown Kitchen is now open in Brentwood. The Vietnamese restaurant, which helped out Wahoo’s Fish Tacos out of its misery on Wilshire, serves soft shell crab spring rolls, filet and brisket pho, short rib pho, shaken beef, papaya salad, and beer, among other delights.

City Farmer’s Eddie Rodriquez will be cooking street papas tonight at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach. Papa Pancho’s Tacos is popping up every Saturday at Lokels Only in Downtown L.A. The menu has beer-battered fish and shrimp tacos, a deep-fried avocado taco, a deep-fried papaya taco, and the “HoodFoodie” burrito combining its battered fish and shrimp with asada and a mango pico de gallo inside a spinach tortilla. The Westside masa specialists at Masienda have introduced state-of-the-art, stainless steel and basalt-integrated industrial molino for grinding nixtamalized corn into masa. Priced at $1,550, the Molinito is clearly not for your average home cook, but if you can swing the cost and swear by the Taco Life, then handle.
Tacos el Tapatio Flies South
Tacos el Tapatio, which sells its “Guadalajara-style beef barbacoa” in City Terrace and Downtown, is opening a location in San Diego’s Barrio Logan today. The stand serves tacos, vampiros, mulitas and quesadillas on tortillas hechas a mano, as well as cheesy burritos.
