Check out this gorgeous map documenting the city of Los Angeles as it appeared in 1871. The map was created in 1929 by the University Women's Club of Los Angeles. There is more information on the Library of Congress website, which notes that the original map is 33cm by 42cm. The map is available as a print from the Big Map Blog.
