FCKR-15yr-flyer-orange

Mochilla x 213* x 90.7 KPFK's TruthSeekers Radio presents: FIRECRACKER 15 YEAR REUNION + COLEMAN'S BIRTHDAY!

You know those really good DJs, the ones who make a name for themselves behind the decks and not on the internet? The ones who know how to mix and blend every genre imaginable into a completely funky good time where everyone is welcome? The ones who literally start the party, then keep it going all night? That's what FIRECRACKER was all about. Now the club that launched a thousand ships is celebrating a reunion party along with the birthday of one of their founders. Come out to Highland Park this Friday night for a guaranteed good time. Below, read a message from the crew along with all the info you'll need:

In August 1998 (15 years ago), when vinyl was king, a small group of friends created a small club called FIRECRACKER. We never thought it would change our lives and the lives of so many Angelenos, not to mention revitalizing the once empty Chinatown. The entire journey was a true labor of LOVE, 12 wonderful years went by in a blink. This creative environment gave birth to many beautiful events that now exist in present day Los Angeles (from hosting the first LA Soul Slam with DJ Spinna to rockin’ the first massive Chinatown block parties). Daryl Chou, Alfred Hawkins, Lisa Yu, Wing Ko, Paris Potter, Kutmah, Azul 213*, C Boogie and Eric Coleman built an institution. Since the first day, our doors were open to any and everyone. All walks of life came together and celebrated the gift of music. We were blessed to share the turntables with some of the most prolific DJs and producers from around the world alongside our local heroes, every experience was new.

Some of our Guest's over the years included:

9th Wonder, Kenny Dope, Biz Markie, DJ Spinna, Madlib, Twilight Tone, De La Soul's Maseo, Rich Medina, Z-Trip Flying Lotus, Evil-E, Tony Touch, Nu Mark, Black Eyed Peas, J Rocc, The Beat Junkies, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Zack De La Rocha, Peanut Butter Wolf, Karriem Riggins, Julio G, Egypitian Lover, Rhettmattic, Adam 12, Eric V, The Gaslamp Killer and Dj Babu just to name a few...

Street Vendors Successfully Sue City to Remove Illegal ‘No Vending’ Signs And Won

L.A. will also have to reimburse the street vendors for their past fines relating to this controversial sign. However, this does not include any other fines related to equipment restrictions or lack of permits. This also means that while a vendor can’t be cited for vending in areas like the Hollywood Walk of Fame anymore, they can still get cited for other city regulations.
