Diverse musical talents are rounding themselves up for The Kris Special and Friends’ first “Elliott Smith Birthday Tribute.” Nearly 20 artists – including Joel Martin, Death to Anders, Michael Mangia, and Cameron Morgan, as well as members of Slackstring, Rose’s Pawn Shop, and The After Midnight Project,– will celebrate the 37th birthday of the mellow-as-skag songwriter, who stabbed himself to death in October 2003. Each artist will play up to three Smith songs, and your $5 door fee will go to the Elliott Smith Memorial Fund for abused children.
