Cinco de Mayo at Pink Taco ~ Century City

Pink Taco ~ Century City

Sorry, but we couldn't do a somber lunch on Cinco de Drinko, so we finally took Pink Taco up on an invite to come in and ogle their women, sample some grub, and sip a little liquor in the early afternoon. The party was just starting to pick up, but TACO had a high-energy good time, with everything from the weighty plates of family-style Tex-Mex-on-steroids to the exaggerated decor, and lovely, lovely gals making us feel like we were on some strange day trip to Vegas. We get what these Pinkos are doing and think they do it well, basically providing an ideal atmosphere for a drinking "holiday" such as today's, much like  spots like Brennan's or Cat and Fiddle do on St. Patty's Day. Safe drinking tonight, friends!

The relleno was stuffed with steak and overall pretty good, with a firm chile and flavors that stood out more than the mushiness found at many family-style spots. As a big chile relleno fan who has had many different home and restaurant-styles, I was impressed by the batter and its thin, crisp shell.
