San Pedro Skatepark Association ~ Channel St. & Gaffey St. @ 110 Frwy. ~ San Pedro

sk8pk16.jpg

The Channel Street Project, courtesy of the San Pedro Skatepark Association, is a 100% homegrown skatepark built by volunteers and skate-or-die devotees. As they say, "Build your own damn skatepark." A concrete oasis under the one of the busiest passages of freeway on earth, this park is a tribute to perpetual motion, form meeting function. The mark of the maker is everywhere, especially on the outer walls glittering with mosaic of shiny colored tiles and treasured relics. sk8pk3a.jpg

Visit the Channel Street Project this Friday for "the premiere of "V-day", the Santa Cruz Legends movie featuring the likes of Dressen, Keith Meek, Tom Knox, and Jason Jessee. They'll be showing it at the park at around 8pm on Friday, March 9th. Donations are needed to get the next section of the park built so come down, catch the show, buy a shirt and drop some loot in the jug for the cause..... "
