[dropcap size=big]T[/dropcap]The fatal shooting of a man that was on a camping trip with his young children is currently under investigation.

The shooting happened around 5 a.m. Friday in Malibu Creek State Park, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's office. When deputies arrived on scene the victim was found to have at least one shot to the upper torso. He died at the scene. The man has been identified by several reports as 35-year-old Tristan Beaudette.

The Sheriffs currently has no suspect information or known motive for the shooting.

CBS Los Angeles reports that the place where Beaudette was shot has experienced unknown gunfire before. Journalist Melissa Tatangelo said last year she was camping in the same place and heard a gunshot at around 5 a.m. In a Facebook video she posted about it, she said er car had been hit with a bullet.

In May, 52-year-old Francisco Reynaldo was stabbed not so far from the campgrounds in the unincorporated Santa Monica Mountains.

Beaudette was a scientist that worked for a pharmaceutical company and lived in Irvine. He was camping with his two-year-old and four-year-old girls, according to the Los Angeles Times. His kids were not hurt.

A GoFundMe that has been set up for the family describes Beaudette as someone who loved being in the outdoors. He and his family were preparing to relocate to the Bay Area.
