Saturday night was the opening of HVW8's much anticipated collaboration with Adidas Original and world renowned artists Kevin Lyons and Jean André. The focal point was the André and Lyons' versions of classic Adidas shoes. André's used a monochromatic color scheme with shoes that looked like they were dipped in Krink Ink, and indeed he used Krink as part of his installation. The fine details that went into each shoe and their placement within the gallery positioned them as works of art themselves. Lyon's shoes showcased his signature love of bright, bold colors. Each of his designs was more vibrant than the next, and looked like it had come out of an artist's studio.

The walls inside HVW8 had new works from both artists which further explored their favorite motifs, designs, and obsessions. The gallery has a huge back lounge where you can usually find the artists mingling with the crowd on opening night, and on this occasion there was also free beer, which kept everyone warm and close. The back wall was covered in characters drawn by Lyon and this ended up being the spot where everyone wanted to post up and take photos. Group after group snapped the mural and their friends in front of it-- Instagram must have blown up that night with Lyon's clever designs. L.A. Taco's Desilu stopped by to catch some of the evening, click the link for a complete gallery...
