Cops Want Moratorium on Weed Stores
The LA Times says: "Concerned by a 2,350% increase in the number of medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles in a one-year period, Police Chief William J. Bratton is calling for a moratorium on new facilities until strict rules can be adopted governing them."

Mariachi Hotel Saved
The Mariachis of the Boyle Hotel are signing sweet songs today, after a community group purchased the hotel where many of them live, saving it from becoming condos etc. The property needs a lot of work but the group hopes to raise money to both improve the conditions and solidify the status of the hotel as a musical landmark.

LA Loves Bananas?
Blogging.la has the scoop on the NY Times assertion that LaLa Land is goo-goo over banana cream pies. Are banana cream pies part of the LA taco lifestyle? Wethinks not but who knows? Perhaps we're just out of it.
