Metal Fans Scene Report: The Best Live Shows So Far This Year in L.A.

To be a metal fan and to live in LA is to be truly blessed. Some of the best promoters and shows and bands are in our sprawling metropolis. Everything from backyards to DIY to classic LA venues you can experience live music practically every day. A couple big shows rolled through last month that I did not have the time to get to but I can share some photos now. On Feb. 26 at the Echoplex, Gore Metal Merchants Exhumed were in town in support of their new full-length Death Revenge on Relapse Records. Along with stalwarts Incantation and Phobia it was a night to remember, brought to you by Spaceland Presents and Church of the 8th Day. The very next day, Feb. 27, EYEHATEGOD and Corrosion of Conformity were at The Fonda Theater in support of Black Label Society. This was the last night of the tour with COC just recently releasing their long awaited full-length No Cross No Crown in January on Nuclear Blast.

LAPD Officers Watched a Nearly $1 Million Metro Bus Get Lit On Fire. Why Didn’t They Do Something?

On social media, people were quick to criticize fans that participated in the celebrations. But few people questioned why the LAPD, a public agency with an annual budget of over $3 billion, stood around and waited until the bus was on fire before they did something. Or why the city wasn’t better prepared to handle public celebrations considering the same exact thing happened three years ago when the Dodgers won the World Series (again).

A ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ Star Looks Back On Filming at Evergreen Cemetery in Boyle Heights After 40 Years

“I remember driving early in the morning, in the dark, to get to the cemetery,” says Heather Langenkamp, who played Nancy. “I remember thinking to myself, 'I’ve never been over here, but I’ve heard that there’s really great tacos over here on Soto. Robert Englund was such a foodie. He probably told me that the best food in town was over there.”
