Ever Bar's Oscars Viewing Party

'Historical Trauma and Eating Disorders'

[dropcap size=big]H[/dropcap]istorically, eating disorders have been represented as something that affects affluent women (anyone remember Netflix’s To The Bone?). Inland Empire badass and founder of Nalgona Positivity PrideGloria Lucas, wants to address people of color and indigenous descent that are struggling with eating disorders. In her workshop, participants are going to learn about historical trauma, the white-thin-cis-hetero industrial complex, and how colonialism impacts self-esteem and body image. This workshop is in Irvine. I’m a fan of NPP and definitely think it’s worth the trek down the 405, if you’re looking for a POC centered body positivity. Get more details here.

Afro-Latinx Festival ~ MOLAA

Alivio Open Mic

If you ever wanted to read your poetry at an open mic, this crowd is welcoming and sweet. There will be at least 15 vendors there, including Enchanted Apples, who rocked my world last year with her tajin and caramel apple. There will also be jewelry and other art vendors. Donald Trump Reassigns Kristi Noem As Special Envoy—Markwayne Mullin To Take Over As U.S. Secretary of DHS

Former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has been reassigned to the role of “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas,” which will have its first meeting with like-minded right-wing leaders from 12 Latin American countries. Mullin, who is currently a House Representative for Oklahoma’s 2nd district, will take on the role of Secretary of DHS at the end of the month, where he’ll likely be ready to take on all of the U.S. in a fistfight.
